Our Story

Thirteen years ago, Chefs Kathryn and Chad took on the task of cooking a three day wedding for Kathryn's cousin. The hard work, logistics, and creativity of the menu development process prompted them to leave the hotels, master chefs, restaurants and banquet centers that they had worked for and start their own company. Together, Kathryn and Chad have cooked countless weddings, graduation parties, showers, and private dinners, writing a fresh menu for each event. Fourteen years and four little boys later, KC Catering is evolving into culinary classes, teaching curious minds the "secrets" of the chefs, because we all deserve a good meal with family.

Meet the Team

Executive Chef

Kathryn Wandrie

Chef Kathryn is the culinary brain that stokes the fires of creativity at KC Catering. Like a sail to a ship, Kathryn’s creativity pushes KC Catering into uncharted and unexplored waters, where we truly are able to grow as an organization. Kathryn graduated from Schoolcraft’s culinary arts program and is a Certified Sous Chef. She worked at the Inn at St. Johns Banquet Center, an award winning 4-diamond hotel and event center. In addition, she has personal cheffed for some of Detroit’s most prominent celebrity athletes and influencers. If you catch a minute to chat with Chef Kathryn, ask her about what she’s reading these days, or about her favorite topic of all: her four boys, Jimmy, Walter, Beau and Georgie.

Chad Wandrie

Chef Chad is a man of many talents, and you’ll see him doing a multitude of jobs in the kitchen (and some out of the kitchen). Like your typical chef, he braises, sautés, roasts and broils, but Chad’s secret weapon is the grill. Whether he’s roasting a 250 lb. hog or flipping burgers, you can expect his grill skills to ‘wow’ even the toughest of crowds. Chad graduated from Schoolcraft college’s culinary arts program and has worked in kitchens for most of his adult life. Chad spent two years as a chef at Google’s state-of-the-art facility in Ann Arbor. But you won’t catch him bragging about his culinary experience. Strike up a grillside conversation with Chef Chad and you’ll find him to be one of the most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet.

Culinary Assistant and Beverage Manager

Devon Stachura

Devon has been KC's right hand woman for years, traveling from event to event and working right alongside the chefs. In addition, she is our resident beverage manager, whipping up signature drinks to fancy coffees at the drop of a hat. Aside from working with the KC crew, Devon is a mom of two beautiful kids and is an avid crafter.

Social Media Manager and Spanish Teacher

Anne Stachura

Anne has been with KC since the beginning, helping both on and off site at events. Anne is also the founder of a Spanish Bookstore Viva la Libreria, which offers Spanish Immersion Summer Camps. When she isn't teaching Spanish or managing our social media, Anne is at home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at a book club, yoga class, or singing in the church choir with her husband, Mike.
